At Arnold Dallas McPherson, we take great pride in fostering talent within our own ranks. That is why we are especially thrilled to announce that Leah Felsbourg has been officially admitted to the legal profession and is beginning her new chapter as a Personal Injury Lawyer in our Melbourne team.
Leah has been a familiar face at ADM since 2021, and her transition from Legal Assistant to Solicitor is a testament to her dedication and the “client-first” mindset she brings to every matter. We sat down with Leah to discuss her journey, her passion for advocacy, and what she loves doing when she isn’t in the office.
The Journey to Law
You’ve been part of the ADM family for a few years now. How did your interest in personal injury law first begin? It actually started before I joined ADM! While working as a receptionist for a chiropractic group, I frequently assisted patients navigating TAC and WorkCover claims. Seeing the impact these injuries had on their daily lives made me realise I wanted to be the person advocating for them during those difficult periods. I joined ADM as an assistant in September 2021 while completing my double degree in Law and Criminology at Deakin University.
Inside the Courtroom
You’ve had a busy few years balancing work and study. What have been some of the most memorable moments of your career so far? The most memorable moments have definitely been the ones that pushed me out of my comfort zone. Instructing trials and attending court is incredibly rewarding—it’s the most collaborative part of a matter, where you’re working closely with counsel, the court, and the client.
I also reflect fondly on some pro bono employment claims I assisted with last year. They were “small wins” in the legal sense, but being able to research a new area of law and achieve a meaningful outcome for a client was a significant moment for me.
The ADM Approach
Which areas of personal injury are you most passionate about, and what does a “perfect client” look like to you? I really enjoy the variety of working across WorkCover, TAC, and Public Liability matters. To me, a perfect client is someone who is earnest, reliable, and receptive. Dealing with a personal injury is incredibly stressful, so having a client who is reasonable and thoughtful makes the collaborative process of advocating for them much more effective.
Beyond the Files
When you aren’t advocating for your clients, how do you spend your downtime? I’m a big fan of anything that keeps my brain active, so I love word, logic, and number puzzles. Outside of that, you’ll find me playing netball, travelling, or trying out new activities with my friends. I’m also a big animal lover—I’m very passionate about animal rights and the environment, and I love spending time with my cat, Apollo!
