James Casey joined Arnold Dallas McPherson in 2021 and became a Partner of the firm in 2023. He has over 15 years of experience working in Personal Injury law.
James has been a Victorian committee member of the Australian Lawyers Alliance for over a decade and spent several years as the elected WorkSafe representative.
James has been involved in multiple committees and working groups over his career including the WorkCover Magistrates’ Court Users Group, WorkCover Advisory Committee, WorkSafe Legal Liaison Group, and Medical Panel Users Group.
James has extensive experience in litigation in the Magistrates, County, and Supreme Courts of Victoria. Significant cases James has been involved in over the years include acting for police officers impacted by the 2007 Kerang rail disaster, assisting people impacted by the Bourke Street massacre, industrial fatalities, acting and assisting fire-fighters with cancer cases, and acting for stonemasons with silicosis.
James assisted in the 2013 Court of Appeal case of VWA v Elsdon which was one of the first cases to establish and confirm the right for workers for a beneficial interpretation of medical guidelines for spinal/back injuries.
James also acted for the worker in the significant 2020 Court of Appeal decision of McKenzie v Healthscope Operations Pty Ltd in relation to a conciliation appeal over ongoing entitlements to WorkCover payments.
James provides legal advice and representation in Personal Injury law matters including:

- Industrial diseases, such as Asbestos Compensation Claims including silicosis and mesothelioma diseases
